Hello ORCSA members,

Our January thaw came early - like early January this year and now - what will the rest of Winter be like? I know lots of folks are dealing with the flu and others have been battling a wicked cold and cough virus, which hangs on for weeks at least that's how it affected me recently. I sincerely hope you will have a great 2013 and only good things will happen for us all.

Looks like Norm and I are going to "completely retire" this year, sell our farm and move into a new home, not too far from where we live now. It has been a difficult and MAJOR decision, but we do feel it is time to back down and change our course of direction. We still hope to keep our 3 Clydesdales and move them with us to our new spot, but time will tell, I guess. We will have lots to deal with as this year progresses - just hope we are up to it!!

Thirty four years in one spot equals "lots of stuff to deal with. I have enclosed the minutes of our December 2012 General Membership Meeting plus a few notes from the Ohio State Fair All Draft Horse Breed Show Meeting, which was on the same day.

Membership dues are to be sent into Brenda Damschroder, our Treasurer, as soon as possible. She will be sending invoices out to you. Also, send in the form and money if you want to sponsor a trophy for the 2013 Ohio State Fair. Both the dues and trophy forms will be sent to you.

Equine Affaire will be here soon - April 11-14, and Tim and Mary Myers are in charge of this. So if you can help, PLEASE, let them know. They need horses for our ORCSA Stall and Display and also for the Breed Demo. Here's Tim's information: Tim(g> Phone: Tim's cell: 419-355-4230, Mary's cell: 419-680-6991. President Andy volunteered to pay for our stall for this event, so a BIG THANK YOU for doing that Andy.

It's time to start thinking about our 2013 Youth Representative, so talk to our young folks and encourage them to apply. I have enclosed the guidelines and application form in this newsletter. I have enclosed some comments from our 2012 Rep, Taylor Maggard, on her experiences as our Youth Rep. Also, send me your Stallion Report, if you want to advertise your studs for breeding this year. I will also have Brandon Knapp put your information on the Web Site, that way, maybe some outsiders will see the Studs information and contact for you for possible stud services.

We tentatively are planning a "field day" which will be held at Jennifer Adkins's place near Sullivan, Ohio, either in late May or early June. She has also offered to host our Summer Picnic. Information on these 2 events will be in a later newsletter and emails. These might be held on the same day or possibly separate dates. I will keep everyone posted on this as things materialize.

I guess this is about all I have for now - so - stay happy and healthy. Best of luck to those who are awaiting baby Shires or Clydesdales this foaling season.
