Hello ORCSA members,
Aw - Summer is finally here - and it's been a long time coming this year. By now, some of you are enjoying your foal crop, some of you are getting ready for the show season and the rest of us are just enjoying our horses. The show season is always kind of exciting, but also a lot of work, too. Best of luck with your foals and best of luck in the show ring.
Back in May, we had our annual picnic and General Membership meeting, which was hosted by Mark Main. He has a great place and wonderful catering friends!! Our food, as always, was spectacular and tasty too. We had some great items for our Chinese Auction and made a little money for our "kitty". During our meeting, we selected our 2011 Youth Representative, who is Tim and Mary Myers' niece - Aneese Hay. She will be representing ORCSA at some of the fairs and shows during the year. Congratulations Aneese and have fun. The minutes of this meeting are contained in this newsletter. Our next General Membership Meeting will be held during the Ohio State Fair on Friday, August 5 at 9:00am in the room on the green wall on the far east end of the horse/cow building. Please plan to attend, especially, if you are going to be at the fair anyway. Also, our Hospitality Stall will be needing some donated food, snacks and drinks for our exhibitors to enjoy when they can get away for a break. Thursday and Friday are hectic days at the fair for our exhibitors. We are planning an Executive Board meeting on July 31 to be held at Norm and Anita Guiher's home. An email has been sent out to the Board with this information.
We are looking for a place to have next year's picnic/meeting - Hint -Hint! If you would like to host the picnic, let me or any Board member know, so we can plan.
At the August meeting, we will be taking nominations for Board members' whose terms are up at the end of the year. Vice-president, Treasurer, Secretary and Non-horse owner Trustee positions are going to be available. PLEASE be thinking on this and let us know who you'd like to nominate for these jobs. Also, we will need names for possible judges for the 2012 Ohio State Fair, so Tim, our Fair Advocate, can present them at the December meeting in Columbus.
We always welcome any and all input on all matters pertaining to our organization...remember, this is your horse breed association and, we appreciate your involvement and participation.
As always, if you have something you want, want to trade or want to sell, I can put it in the newsletter as well as on our web site. It would be nice to have more farms listed on our site, as this is a very inexpensive way to advertise you and your farm and horses. Andy and Daryl are still asking for some good photos of you and your horses to update our display board, which we use at the Equine Affaire and other public activities. At this time, I'd like to thank all of you who helped make the 2011 Equine Affaire a success for us. We get a lot of traffic at our ORCSA stall and display. People love being able to step up and see our "big giants" standing in the open stall doorway - begging for attention and getting all kinds of love in return. They are big hams for the public.
Well, I guess I covered it all, for now. Hope to see you around sometime, enjoy the Summer and take care now.
P.S. We'd like to have a Fall Get To-gather - somewhere, so let us know where it can be, ok?
