Late Summer 2005 Issue
Hello to all our ORCSA members.
We are well in the 2005 Horse Shows by now, and I hope everyone is doing well and having a good time - working so hard to "show off your stuff! The Ohio State Fair is over and done, and it was a grand one too. We had a very good representation of Shires and Clydesdales in all the Halter Classes and, of course, some of our great horses were in a lot of the Hitch Classes. Everyone involved should be proud of what you accomplish, and my "hat goes off to all of you" for all your efforts, work, money and time invested. I know all the "helper bees" need a "thank you" too - without your devotion and dedication to these "hitches" it would be next to impossible to " make it look so easy"!
Norm and I are looking forward to having everyone join us for ORCSA's Fun Filled Weekend Show and Wagon Drive/Ride the weekend of September 17-18. I've enclosed a flyer and map - so please invite your guests and family and come join us for a special time together. The flyer is located here
Also in this newsletter are your ballots for our 2006 Officers Election. Take a minute to cast your vote and return the ballots to Gary Shively - Nomination Committee memberóby November 1, 2005. Please feel free to do "write - ins". We would love to have more members get involved and share their ideas and goals for ORCSA. Remember - if you are a single membership - 1 ballot, and if you are a family/farm membership - 2 ballots.
We'd like to honor Loren Damschroder and Dr. Richard Hurt, by making them Honorary Trustees, for all their many years of dedication to ORCSA and also for being two of our original founders of this organization. We invite them to serve in this capacity for as long as they want. Thank you both for all that you have done over the years to help make ORCSA what it is today.
Next, on behalf of our Executive Board, I'd like to "thank" Gary Shively for his many years of overseeing the proceedings for the Shires at the OSF. Gary keeps them all straight and working smoothly.
Another BIG "thank you" to Theresa Hall Shively for managing the OSF trophy project. She does this year after year, and it always gives her gray hear, I am sure, trying to keep it going so nicely. Thanks again, Theresa!
Our 2005 Youth Representative, Emilee Edwards, is doing a great job at each and every show she attends. If you see her at your shows, tell her "thanks" for being our Rep. She is winning over many people- just by being herself and giving them that "million dollar smile". Thank you Emilee!
Well, as usual, I talk too much, so I will cut this off now - and hope to see a lot of you on September 17-18. As they say, "come on down" and have a good time with us at Clearview Stables near Berlin Heights, OH.!
