Late Summer 2012
Hello ORCSA members,
Looks like Summer is coming to an end soon - and I have mixed emotions on this. It was plain hot, humid, dry and hot all summer. Wonder what our winter will be like? By now, the kids and grand kids are back to school and keeping everyone busy with their schedules and activities. Most of the county fairs have come and gone, as well, as the Ohio State Fair. I hope everyone who took their horses to these fairs enjoyed the excitement, competition and comradeship that goes with it all.
A big "thank you" to Dixie Golliday for taking charge of trophy purchases and also getting them to the engraver for the Ohio State Fair. If any one had problems with their trophies, in any way, let us know, so we can look into the situations and issues. Also, a "thank you" to our members who sponsored this year's State Fair trophies.
President Andy conducted a brief General Membership Meeting while at the State Fair, and since I was not able to be there this year there are no minutes. Some items that were discussed at this meeting will be looked into further at a future meeting. However, this is the meeting that we take nominations for the officer positions that expire at the end of the year. Unfortunately, we did not get any "accepting" nominations for President, but since that meeting, Andy as agreed to run for re-election. We will have "write-ins" for all positions that are up for election. Both Brenda and I have indicated that we will run again for our present positions. Todd Riedell indicated that he would not seek another term for our Shire Trustee, but Mike Maggard offered to run for this position. There will be a ballot in this newsletter and, I request that you take a minute, possibly consider yourself for a "write- in" position, cast your vote and return your ballots for the tallying. The President's term is for 2 years, Treasurer and Secretary are 1 year terms and Trustee is a 3 year term. PLEASE consider helping out by serving a board position or just help by being on our committees. We need your help and involvement to keep this going. If you have questions, feel free to contact Andy or myself. Andy's phone number is: 937-233-7457 and mine is on this letterhead.
I have also included the minutes from our Summer Picnic/General membership meeting, that was back in June.
We would also like to thank Taylor Maggard for doing a great job as our ORCSA Youth Representative for 2012 and working so hard at the Ohio State Fair. She put in a couple of long hot days representing ORCSA and helping give out ribbons and trophies.
I have included the results of the Halter and Hitch classes for the Ohio State Fair. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this fair.....we know it is a lot of work, expense and time to do this and hopefully, the public and the fair folks do appreciate your hard work and efforts.
Our FALL OUTING will be Sunday. October 7.2012 and will be held at Myron and Eleanor Knapp's farm in Rochester. Ohio. We plan to have our pot luck lunch at noon. Please bring a dish to share, your own drinks and chairs. We will have sandwiches, paper products and utensils provided. Also, if any one wants to bring a horse or two to drive, Myron has wagons to hitch to for a drive. If you would like to bring your 4-wheelers to ride, you can. The Knapp farm has wonderful trails to ride. If we don't have any horses to hitch, we will probably take a tractor and wagon ride. I will have a map and directions in this newsletter on how to find the farm. Sure hope we have good weather and a good turn out. Looking forward to seeing our members, so take care now.
