Well it seems mother nature is very confused. First she couldn't decide if it should be winter or spring, now it appears she can't decide if she wants it to be spring or summer. At least the calender first day of summer is in a few days and the first cut of hay for the summer is in. Hope everyone is having a great summer so far and that all the preparing for fair season is going well.
First off I would like to thank Mark Main for hosting the meeting on May 22nd. The weather was beautiful and the turn out was great. Thank you also to Mark's beautiful horses for the wagon ride and to all for bringing such great food. Our next get together will be on Sunday Oct. 2nd at the home of Dave and Diane Long: 7400 Old Springfield Rd. South Charleston, Ohio 45368. As the date gets closer I will send out a reminder and map.
For the fall meeting Mike Oxender is going to try and arrange for a representative from the Ohio Horsemen's Club to attend and talk with our members about the benefits of becoming an at large organization within their club. The potential benefits are reduced insurance costs, free publication in their Coral magazine, and notification of many different events that members can participate in. Our family is already a member and my daughter Mckenna attended a weekend camp out at Camp Mohavin. She made new friends and told everyone about owning a Clydesdale and what it's like to ride one.
At the fall meeting we will be voting for the following positions: President, Treasurer, and Clydesdale Trustee. So we need as many members as we can to attend. Please note we are voting at the meeting, not mailing ballots. Nominations for these positions should be emailed to Anita Guiher: firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Sept. 17th. I will send out a reminder as the date gets closer. Please do not nominate someone without making sure that they are willing to accept the position.
I'd like to start compiling a monthly calender to send to our members each month that will not only include meetings and picnics but would also include any other horse parades or events that our members may be interested in. I will need everyone's help with this since our membership is spread thru out the state. If there are any trail rides, parades, or other outings that you would like our membership to know about send me an email and I will include those on the calender and get it out to our membership. When listing parades I can also let our members know who is planning to attend, so if anyone is willing to help they have that information. Michelle Hines is looking into having a banner made for ORSCA that can be displayed on a cart/wagon at any event we have a member at to help advertise our organization. Please let me know in advance of your event so that arrangements can be made to get the banner to you.
There has been a request to again include horse related articles and information in the newsletters. If you have an interesting article that you think should be shared with our members please email that to me: email@example.com.
In closing I would just like to wish everyone an enjoyable summer and great upcoming fair season.
