Hello ORCSA members,
I hope this newsletter finds you all in good spirits and good health, as 2016 is about to start.. ..where did 2015 go? ORCSA is well and looking forward to a good year and hoping to have some fan events forthcoming. As your acting President for the next year, I have hopes that our association will flourish and proceed to continue to grow with new members and our existing members will continue to be a part of our organization, who will always continue to welcome new folks to our breeds of Draft Horses.
We will be having an Executive Board Meeting on January 10, 2016 to make plans and adjustments to make ORCSA bigger and better. Once your new Secretary comes on board, she will be keeping you updated through our "Feather Features'', emails and US mail, which brings me to letting you all know who your Board is for 2016. Vice President is Mike Oxender, Secretary is Jill Dodds, Brenda Damschroder is Treasurer, Clydesdale Trustee is Mark Main, ShireTrustee is Todd Riedel (appointed after Amy Grospitch resigned in November), Andy K-avalauskas, Non-Horse Owner Trustee, and myself, Acting President, (as a result of Steve Wisnieski resigning the end of October).
We have revised our By-Laws and will be sending out the New By-Laws to each member in the near future. Please read them and keep the copy for your reference.
Our next big event will be Equine Affaire 2016 at the Ohio State Fair Grounds in Columbus in April. We plan to participate and need members to help out, so please consider this and offer your assistance, in whatever capacity that suits you. We need horses for our display stall, members to oversee the display and stall, members and horses to participate in our Breed Demo and possibly other features. More information will come on this as we prepare for this event and dates and deadlines are known. We also want to have a Spring Fling at one of our members' facilities, if we can get someone to host this. Our Summer Picnic/Meeting will be in May at Mark Main's farm. More information, dates and times will come later from our Secretary.
I am looking forward to a good year with hopes that you, our membership, will have a successful and happy year with your Drafts. If you have something to sell, trade or want to buy, please use our Web site and contact Melissa Alexander, our new Promotional Manager, who will be coordinating with Brandon Knapp, our Web Master. Our web site, brochure and any other promotional information will be updated in the near future by Melissa and Brandon. Melissa's email: Melissa.Alexander@my.Sinclair.edu or her phone: 937-554-0293.
Well, that's about it from me. Happy New Year and stay safe and give those big horses a hug every day- they are our passion, right?
